The biggest mistake that any DIY home-improvement expert can make with the design and construction of a hot-tub and spa with their garden decking is to place the hot-tub on top of the decking. This is a big 'no-no', because the hot-tub will soon burn through the decking and collapse onto the foundations and supports below.
You must install the hot-tub and spa onto firm brick or concrete foundations and never on decking boards.
Normally, a high deck such as the one in the photograph would have a protective rail to ensure nobody falls off the decking. However, this customer insisted on leaving it open...
